Calling all misfits, rebels, leaders, and teachers, welcome to the one place where the only way to fit in is by standing out, where big goals are met with even bigger action and where we talk through then tackle all things entrepreneurship. I'm your host, Kelsey Knudson. This is the Get Shit Done podcast. Welcome to the revolution. Well, Get Shit Done is coming back with a bang. Things have changed, my friends, and it's time that we have a little conversation about it. So you may have noticed we've been gone for the last month, and it's hard for me to say. We've been consistent on this platform since the beginning. This is the first time it lapsed, and it lapsed for a while, but I feel like it was for a good reason. So in today's episode, I'm gonna talk all about why why the change, why the break, what's to come. And I have a little something special for you if you stick around to the end. I'm super excited about it, so definitely tune in all the way through the end because you're not gonna wanna miss this once in a lifetime thing I'm doing. I'm crazy for doing this, but here we are. So first things first, this is coming out around my birthday, so that's pretty cool. Happy birthday to me. It feels right to have this be the time to roll it back out. I'll be honest. I wasn't planning on taking this long of a break from the podcast, but just some life stuff happened, and it just felt like it needed to happen in my business to roll things out in a more intentional way. So I'm gonna start by kinda sharing what led up to this moment and, again, where we're going from here, because I think that's important to set the tone. Some things are gonna change. Some things will be the same. And, ultimately, the whole goal with this is to better serve serve you. So I'm excited that you're here. Thanks for tuning in. And like I said, stick around the end. You're not gonna wanna miss it. So why did things have to change? I I wanna say I've been feeling this pull to really dig deeper into this podcast for a while. I think in the beginning, for those that don't know, it used to be called when I grow up, and it was all about inspiration. It was about what is possible out there. It was about showing people examples of what could be. And that was a beautiful chapter of the podcast. There was lots of stories, lots of interviews, lots of conversations. And I feel like it did its job, but there came a point where that name didn't really fully embody what my business was anymore. It felt kinda disconnected, and that's when we pivoted to get shit done. Because if I really break down what I feel is the most important piece of business, it's action. And actually, any change in your life, any any positive change, any growth that you're wanting to see, I think action is one of the most important things to consider. And the thing is no one can do that for you. So for a long time, we were trucking along, still doing get shit done, and it felt good, but I feel like there was a layer of depth that I was afraid to tap into. And, honestly, I don't know why. I don't know if it was fear of, I don't know, pushing people away or if it wasn't gonna be for everybody. I listened back to old episodes and I would say things like, if you're just getting started, here's some advice. If you're at this level of business, you secure some advice. And I would kinda cater my message to such a wide range of people when, truthfully, the people that I work with, I'm pretty specific on the type of people that I work with. And so something flipped in my thought process around this, and, honestly, I have to thank Becky who was a recent guest on the episode or on the podcast. She really, like, put words behind this, but we were doing my brainstorm session for my brand refresh, which did not, at the time, it's not why I stopped it. So the brand refresh wasn't why I was stopping it, but I'm it definitely contributed. And during that process, I talked about how when people meet me digitally, like, on social media or they hear of me, or they hear a podcast episode. I feel like there's, like, they get to know me, and, you know, some of us mesh and, like, it's a good vibe, but then there's layers to it, and then it's like they think I'm cool or interesting or there's some kind of connection piece there, some relatability. And then the more they get to know me, then they get to see what type of clients I work with and if we're fit or not. And I was explaining this to her during my brand storm session, and she was like, wait. But why? Why are there so many steps that have to be walked through before they get to know the real you and see if you're for them and if they're for you? And I was, like, mind blown when she said this. And I realized I was playing everything too safe and trying to appease and accommodate from a place of service. Like, I really wanted to help people, and I thought that was the best way to do that. But it was actually coming at a disadvantage to both me and to you. One of the only podcast I I've say this all this time. I only listen to, like, one or two business podcasts maybe a week. Like, I really don't listen to that many. But one of the podcasts I do listen to, no surprise, I'm a huge Alex Hormozi fan. And when I listen to his messaging, I am not his target market. My business doesn't generate the profit that is even considered to be in conversation with the type of clientele he works with. I would say the industry that I'm in is probably not his ideal client industry, and there's so many reasons where I'm actually not a fit for his offers, but I really value his input. And even though the businesses he was speaking to predominantly are much further than I am, I still get a lot of value out of what he has to say. And that's when I realized, like, I can do the same here. So if you're listening to this and you're like, oh my gosh. Kelsey's kicking me out of the club. I'm not. You're welcome to stay if you wanna stay, but I'm gonna stop catering my message to a wide audience and instead focus on what I do best, what I know best. And my hope is if you're part of that, great. And if you aren't there yet, but you know someday you will be, and you can take bits and pieces of what I'm saying and apply it, then you are so welcome to be here, and I'm super excited to share in this journey with you. So long story short, this all came to be just in this, like, really deep thought of what do I do best? Who do I wanna work with? What does that look like? This desire to provide clarity. And, ultimately, I wanna help you out, and I feel like I can do that better if I just kinda cut through the bullshit and get straight to the point. It's what I do best, and there's no reason my podcast and my content shouldn't reflect that. So I'm really excited about this shit, and I would say the brainstorm is what really, like, solidified the need to just reassess my strategy, my content strategy, and so many other things in my business. If I were to, like, condense all of that down, I'm just in a season of, like, hell yes versus lukewarm. I'd rather do way less things, work with less people, have less commitments that are all just like a for sure yes than just kind of dilute what I have to say to try to accommodate more people. Because I've learned the people who want to be here and grow and learn, you can take bits and pieces of what I have to say and apply it to what makes sense for where you're at today. I don't have to do that for you. But if you choose to be here and you would choose to be in the room and you're you're not quite ready for what is being shared, then you're gonna make it, and it's gonna be really cool to see where you go. And I'm excited for that journey. Just like I feel as a customer and listener to this other podcast, I pass that wisdom on to you, and I'm excited to just, again, provide more specificity in the content for the foreseeable future in where we're headed with this. And the other part of this is, like, I think it's important to practice what I preach. Right? I talk to my clients all the time about hell yes offers and how important it is to, like, on a soul level, be really aligned with what you're putting out there and what you're doing. And I've had to make some changes recently. I'll talk more about that in future episodes, the why and how I'm making those adjustments. But all that to say, the content and being truly authentic and really serving at the level that I want to, and, again, not diluting the message is super important to me. And so I'm hoping to pave the way, and I'm hoping that my listeners, you, you take this and you run with it, and you apply that to how you put content out into the world. And you be more authentic and audacious and even a little provocative, because I think it's important to really just be true to who you are, and that's going to attract the right people who love you and wanna work with you, and that's gonna repel the people that weren't a for sure yes, anyways. I really believe that. And I said this before, another reason for the shift is just an opportunity to better serve you. If you know straight up how I work, who I work with, if you know from first interaction, then it saves us a lot of back and forth if maybe we're not a fit. Or maybe we're not a fit right now, and that's okay. But I just think the more I can just lead with this confidence, clarity, and directness, I think it's gonna serve both of us better. And like I said, some personal stuff came up and just caused me to really reflect on a lot of things. So I'm excited to be back, and I'm excited for all the shifts and changes. And this sabbatical from the podcast gave me the time and space to process some things, but also to execute and implement some better systems that better fit my team and my business, and then also just, like, re inspired what type of content I wanna talk about, what things really light me up and I feel like are important to talk about in business. So that's what brought us to this point. And now it's time for me to actually introduce to you reintroduce to you the podcast. It's still the Get Shit Done podcast, but there's a little bit of a tagline at the end of it, a rally cry. Maybe you heard it in the intro today. But we're starting a revolution. And thank you, Becky, again, for creating my own word. That's super cool. But what a revolution really means in my mind is it's this not for everyone mentality. And I don't mean that in, like, I'm going to be I don't wanna be negative, harmful, rude. I'm not aiming to do that. But I'm just recognizing that the people who I absolutely love working with, they kinda, like, do things their own way. They're a little bit rebellious. They're the type of person who maybe business advice says to do this, and they do that, and it worked. And they're clear on who they are and where they're headed and why they're going that direction, or they're willing to figure any of those pieces out. And that's a must to work with me. So I'm starting that filter now, and that's what the revolution's all about. It may not be it may not be, like, a now thing. So maybe you're listening, and you're like, well, some of what you have to say right now doesn't apply to where I'm at. Okay. Cool. Like, don't no hard feelings. Do what you have to do here. But the revolution is all about people who are actively seeking change. They wanna do it their authentic way. And they have really big goals and dreams. And what I've learned both in my coaching, but in the clients that I've gotten the honor to work with is that it gets lonely. The people I'm speaking to you've already done it. Like, the people I'm speaking to, you, you right here, you've done it. You've hit some level of success, whether that's opening the business and it's profitable, whether that's opening the business, it's profitable, you've matched your previous salary, or you are exceeding your husband's salary, or you open multiple locations. You have done it. Like, proof of concept is there. But then there's, like, this next layer of business where it's like, okay. Cool. But now what? And I want more, but what does that mean? What does that look like? How do I get there? And the people who step into that in business, there's just fewer and fewer of us. So I feel like we have to stick together. That's why there's a rally cry around this. And I'm just so excited. The word fits so well. So the get shit done revolution is all about action takers, and people who are radical, radical in this sense, which is radical accountability for yourself and holding others to that level of accountability, radical authenticity, being really true to who you are, which means you have to know who you are so then you can share that with people. Then radical action, of course, taking messy action, improving along the way, becoming more efficient, making things better, making things prettier. And I think that messy action is great, but like, you also have to recalibrate. So we're gonna talk a ton about that kind of stuff. And ultimately, the get shit done revolution is all for people who are paving their own way. They're the trailblazers, and I'm just I'm so excited for this. It feels right. It feels like I'm able to verbalize and articulate my hell yes people. You know who you are. And it's just been an honor that privately, I've cultivated a clientele that is these people, and now I feel like I get to share more of their stories and speak directly to them in a way that before, they would only, like, kinda fit into the script sometimes, but I'm excited to have that be the forefront and center of this podcast. So that's the get shit done revolution. I'm so excited that you're here. And now I need to share a little bit more about what's to come, because I think it's important to know and set expectations. I don't know if you've done this, but I've listened to podcasts over the years, and when they make changes, sometimes we miss what used to be in the format changes, and there's on the back end, I just want you to know on this side of the microphone, there's so many reasons for it. So in this season of life, we're gonna make some changes, and I'm just gonna talk about them right now. This podcast specifically is for business owners who are actively scaling and growing, and that's a shift. In the beginning, again, it was kinda like an inspiration podcast for anyone wanting to change, and that was really broad. And then it turned into Get Shit Done, which was anyone taking action, which is also really broad. And now specifically, this content, this podcast is going to be all about growing your business. So if you're listening and you have summited the mountain and you are perfectly content with where you're at, you may find some of these episodes aren't quite as relevant anymore. And on the flip side, if you're just getting started and you're wondering what your Instagram strategy should be, or should you have an s corp and LLC or LLC, this is probably not gonna be the podcast for you. But come back as things are growing and evolving and changing. And it is for the person who maybe they have a successful business, but they're still working four to five days a week predominantly serving clients, and they want to transition out of that and be more of a leader. Like, welcome to the club. Maybe it's the person who wants to start an education platform that's going to filter into their business in a new way. Welcome. I'm happy that you're here. And I just hope to kinda catch all those people who found themselves saying, okay. Well, now what? Because I've been there multiple times in different capacities in business. I'm excited to speak to this. This is something I'm super passionate about, and, honestly, something that's needed. I feel like it's missing in the industry. You're still going to get tips and tactical resources. I want this to feel not only just, like, motivating, I got this, but also clear on what to do next. And I'm gonna spoil some of it. Like, sometimes the best thing you can do is get off this platform, stop doom scrolling Instagram, and just go make some sales calls. Sometimes the best thing you can do is listen to an episode about leadership and how to have hard conversations, and then hang up the phone and go have a hard conversation with your team member. Sometimes the work is just truly on you, and I don't want to hide that fact. I I plan on equipping you with the tools you'll need to do those things. But just know if you walk away from an episode and you're like, that didn't really give me the solution I was looking for. I encourage you to look inward because sometimes the solution lies within you. And that's not a funny answer, but that's the truth. So expect more tactical tips, resources. The format wise for the foreseeable future, you and I are gonna be hanging out a lot. I still plan on doing the hot seat coaching segments, which I'm really excited about. I really love the opportunity for you to see a peek behind the curtain and hear different stories of business owners and the struggles they're having. I think, for me, having the hot seat coaching has really taught me that you're not alone. A lot of the problems I hear privately one on one, I have with multiple business owners, and I think it's helpful to hear different obstacles people have. And maybe you listen, and you're like, oh my gosh. I was going through that three months ago, and here's what I did. And maybe you're actively in it. Maybe you listen to an episode, and a couple months down the road, do you go through a similar thing that you've already listened and have the tools to deal with it faster? For For so many reasons, I love that format. And then we'll be bringing back guest experts probably in twenty twenty five if you're listening in real time. Logistically, a lot has changed. We're sitting in my home. I'm recording with my new neon sign, and we're gonna eventually paint and upgrade some things here. My team has changed, which is, you know, hard and good and exciting. So there's so many variables. I just wanted to set us up for consistent success. That's the commitment for the rest of the year, and then we'll definitely bring back some guest experts next year. I already have some in the roster that I'm, like, absolutely honored and shocked that they're willing to be a part of this. I can't wait to share them with you. But if you're listening and you're there's certain topics you would like to hear, please don't be a stranger. I would love to hear them. Probably the best way to do that would be on social media. My account is still kelsey marie knudson. Please send me a DM. It's me that manages the DM, so I'd love to hear from you. Some other things to expect from me, your true authenticity. It's still gonna be me. It's still gonna be the Kelsey flavor of things. I still plan on being very authentic and genuine, and that's why I have some more personal things I'll be sharing down the road once I feel a little more removed from the situations, and I'm excited to share some of my lessons and things that I've learned. I'm also excited to just be more authentic up front, if that makes any sense, and just share more content and information and probably some things that I'm actually coaching too privately. I hope to bring some of that to life too. And then the other thing is I'm just excited to be here. Honestly, podcasting is my favorite format. It's so much fun, and I'll be honest, it's a lot of work. This is the third podcast I've been a part of in some capacity. I've put a lot of energy and effort into all of them in different times and chapters of my life, and I'm just really excited to be here and share these topics with you and have these conversations with you. It lights me up, and I just I'm excited to feel kinda reignited with that too, if I'm being totally honest. So that's what's to come. That's what's changed. That's what brought us to this point. It's my birthday week, and in celebration of the podcast coming back, my birthday, and just so many things, I'm actually doing something really crazy. I told you at the beginning that I was gonna tell you about it, so now is the time. I'm officially telling you about it. I am offering up a free coaching session. I never do this. I never do it. I typically don't think a one off session is the most powerful thing to do, but I'm learning that it it's better than some than nothing for people. And, honestly, I love just, like, a good coaching session where we dive deep into the business, come up with some to dos, and just refocus your time and energy. I'm doing it for free, and I'm running a contest. So if you're listening to this episode and you just sat up a little bit because you know these never are available, and when they are, I charge five hundred dollars for an hour of my time, so this is a big freaking deal. If you are a current client, if we've worked in the past, if you've never worked with me, all are welcome, and here's how you apply. We're gonna be posting this episode on social media, and we just wanna get the word out that Get Shit Done is back. We're excited and want to help people grow to that next level of business. So in order to to do that, we need your help. So when this episode gets posted on social media, go to the post about it. You can comment, and that will get you entered in for a, entry into the competition. You can share the episode. Make sure to share it from social media so that way we can track it, and that will get you entered in. And then you can tag any of your business friends who you feel like would benefit from this podcast or that specific episode, and every single tag is an entry as well. I'm gonna put all of the entries into a hat of some sort and then pull it within the next week. And whoever wins gets a free coaching session. So thank you so much for being here. Thank you for your patience and your grace during this transition time. I'm excited for what's to come. And my hope is that this also gives you permission to make pivots and adjustments in your business. If what you've been doing for a long time isn't serving you anymore, sometimes it's time to just take a step back before you can take multiple steps forward. So I'm excited that you're here. Thank you so much. Definitely enter that competition. It's gonna be really exciting. I can't wait to award that person, that special session, and I hope to catch you next week at the next episode. Hey. Thanks for being a part of the Get Shit Done revolution. My hope is this episode sparked a fire in you, equipped you with some practical next steps, or inspired leaving a review on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you're tuning in. Now it's time for me to hand over the keys and let you get shit done.
