How to start a business the smart way

What's the number one question I get asked?

It's, "how do I start?" Whether you're creating a new business or pivoting in your existing one, my answer remains the same. In order to know where you are going, you have to choose a destination. So where is it you want to go? Don't get hung up on the hoops you have to jump through, instead focus on choosing your destination.

To get started, you need to choose your goal. Make sure it is something you can measure. What's the first thing you want to accomplish?

For example, if your goal is to quit your 9-5, instead of setting a date, try setting a dollar amount. If you give yourself a deadline based on time, you'll use all of that time to achieve your goal.

Maybe your goal is to make more money. What does "more" mean to you? Establish what that is and how you need to achieve that.

In short, I always tell people to be specific, start big and then work backwards to create small tasks that get you closer to your goal. Make a list of things you already know and things you need to learn.

Maybe you're more visual? Grab this FREE guide to help you get started with that business. Now get to work!
